Bowen is a particularly unique kind of therapy which involves stimulation of the Fascia (connective tissue) of the body. Fascia is a never ending, never beginning network of fibres and tissues that 'hold the body in place', it acts as a shock absorber for movement and enables fluidity of action.
It is also a pathway for cellular movement including things like inflammation reduction within and nutritional supplies to the tissues. Having healthy fascia is vital for whole body function and wellbeing.
The Bowen technique facilitates healing within the fascia in a gentle, yet effective way.
It can assist those suffering with chronic pain conditions, injuries and many common ailments from headaches to lower back ache pain. Your treatment will seem very gentle, in comparison to massage, but don't be deceived, Bowen is tremendously effective.

What does Bowen Therapy Do? Bowen Therapy stimulates receptors in tendons, muscles and ligaments, sending signals to the brain for healing and recovery. Benefits include relaxation, pain relief, improved range of motion, muscular tension relief and lymph drainage.
How does it help the body heal? A core tenant of Bowen Therapy is the body’s ability to remember how to heal. By reducing the body’s fight or flight response, deep relaxation can be achieved, triggering improved balance and health.
Can it help relieve stress? If done regularly, Bowen Therapy can be an effective modality in reducing stress. By encouraging a slowing of breath and heart rate, it’s common for highly strung clients to dramatically reduce their stress levels.
Can Bowen Therapy have any negative effects? Bowen Therapy is gentle by definition, so is unlikely to result in pain or soreness. It’s possible for positive shifts in the body’s structural alignment to result in previously underutilised and atrophied areas to be released, causing some minor discomfort as they become used again. If this occurs, any discomfort is expected to resolve quickly.
