Bulletproof Smoothie
Not only is this good to have a couple of times per day when you're feeling unwell, its also a fabulous immune strengthener to enjoy a couple of times per week. Spirulina is very high in protein and rich in B12, which is a vitamin that can be deficient in Vegans and Vegetarians. It is packed with numerous minerals (such as iron, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and sodium) and contains beta-carotene and gamma-linolenic acid. It has a detoxifying effect on the body as well, so should be started on a lower dose and increase from there.
Combine in a highpowered blender (Nutribullet, MagicBullet or Vitamix):
2-3 cups of spinach or kale (or a combination of both)
1 banana
2 oranges (peel removed)
1 small knob (1-2cm) of ginger, chopped roughly
2 tablespoons of chia seeds
1-3 teaspoons of spirulina (start smaller and gradually increase to taste and detoxification preference)
Ice cubes
