Relaxation is something we do naturally, and we don't need any special training or techniques. However, deep relaxation: relaxation that is healing both the physical and sentient body, is something very different. It quietens our mind and releases physical, mental and emotional tension in our body.
When we are in a state of deep relaxation, our heart beat and breathing slow down, and our body and mind become deeply calm.
Yoga Nidra is the ultimate relaxation technique for releasing stress and tension held in our body. Referred to as 'yogic sleep', it creates a state of consciousness that is different to meditation, and as many will say, is easier and even more restorative.
Throughout this series you will experience this deep level of relaxation as you are guided by your teacher, the very talented Vanessa Quinlan, third generation Yogi, through the full eight stages of Yoga Nidra meditation.
Yoga Nidra is a practice of sense withdrawal, or travelling inwards and in yogic terminology is referred to as - Pratyahara. Turning your attention inwards helps your mind and body reach a deeply calm mental state. This then allows your body to restore and balance itself. Through the practise of Yoga Nidra, there has been evidence showing reduced anxiety, stress, fatigue and increased mood, general wellbeing and vitality.
Each week for four consecutive weeks, on a Friday evening, make the choice to completely nourish your body and spirit and allow Vanessa to take you on a beautifully healing inner journey. You will lay for most of the time, supported comfortably with mats, bolsters and blankets.
This class is suitable for anyone and everyone, no fitness level required.
